About Registration
How can I register?
To register, click on the “Register” button and choose the Walk you would like to participate in.
If you are having difficulty registering, please consult this guide (Coming soon), which explains the registration process step by step.
If I registered last year, how do I register this year?
If you have already participated in the Walk to End ALS, you can use the same account (email address and password) as last year.
- Click on the “Login” button at the top right to access your account.
- Select the Walk of your choice by clicking here.
- Follow the instructions to complete your registration.
Note: You will need to create your team again (you can use the same team name as last year) and customize your page.
Can I register on site?
Yes, it is absolutely possible to register on the day of the event.
However, we encourage you to register online if you would like to start collecting donations before the Walk.
What if there is no Walk in my region?
If no Walk is organized near you, you can create your own walk in your own way and raise funds to support ALS Québec.
With the “Remote” option, you can gather with your family and friends at a place and time of your choosing, whether during the summer or fall. Every step counts toward advancing research and supporting families affected by ALS.
About the event
What is the distance of the route?
The duration and distance of the route vary from one walk to another. To find out the exact distance of your walk, please consult the information on the page of the walk of your choice by clicking here.
Will there be snacks and water during the Walk?
Yes, snacks will be provided at all Walks.
As for water, we encourage you to bring your reusable bottle. There will be refill stations on site. A limited number of bottled waters will be available at certain Walks.
Will the Walk take place if it rains?
Yes, the Walk takes place rain or shine! Be sure to plan appropriate clothing suitable for all types of weather (heat, rain, cold).
How can I receive the official blue T-shirt?
Any participant who makes a donation of $30 or more can receive the T-shirt. It can be picked up on the day of the Walk.
It will also be possible to make a donation on site to receive a T-shirt.
About fundraising, donations & tax receipts
Where do the donated funds go?
Funds raised through the Walk to End ALS allow ALS Québec to continue its mission of supporting people living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and their loved ones.
- 60% of the funds raised are dedicated to direct support for families, including accompaniment services, psychological support, and support groups.
- 40% of the funds are invested in research to better understand the disease and accelerate the discovery of treatments.
Can I participate without fundraising?
Yes. However, the Walk to End ALS is first and foremost a fundraising event. We therefore encourage each participant and each team to raise donations to support affected families and help advance research toward a future without ALS. Every donation counts.
What to do with cash and checks your donors have given you?
Make sure you have complete information (name and mailing address) from your donors so that we can issue tax receipts.
By mail:
- Send the check to SLA Québec (5415, rue Paré, Suite 200, Mont-Royal, H4P 1P7).
- The check must be made payable to SLA Québec and include a note with your name and the location of the walk.
- Notify us by email at jgaudreault@sla-quebec.ca so that we can add the amount to your donation page.
- Important: It is not recommended to send cash by mail.
Online (for cash donations):
- Donations can be made by credit card on our platform.
- Provide the donor’s information for the issuance of a tax receipt.
- You can also contact us at 514-725-2653 for assistance.
On-site during the event:
Checks or cash can be handed in directly at the event.
When and how are tax receipts issued?
For online donations, tax receipts are sent immediately by email. A download link is provided in the transaction confirmation email.
For cash or check donations given directly to a participant, tax receipts will be sent to donors by mail or email when the participant submits the donations.
Is there a minimum amount required to receive a tax receipt?
All donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt.
Can I make a donation without actively participating in the event?
Yes, absolutely! You can make a donation online, by check (by mail), or by phone to support the cause, even if you are not participating in the Walk. To make your donation online, click here. Every contribution counts and makes a real difference.
Involvement
How can I become a volunteer?
Volunteers play an essential role in the success of our events. If you wish to get involved, two options are available to you:
