Montfort receives more than 50,000 patients in its emergency department per year. Of these, 8% receive a mental health diagnosis - the highest rate of any hospital in the region, and even throughout the province.
This $2 million innovative project aims to transform a section of the emergency department into an environment dedicated to the management of mental health crises.
The project involves the strategic redevelopment of the space to create a distinct Psychiatric Emergency Zone, all while establishing a new model of care and services specific to clients in psychological distress.
