Rules and Safety Measures
- Ride a bicycle in excellent condition;
- Wear a certified bicycle helmet;
- Ride between the organization's vehicles / respect the limits of the road;
- Respect the average speed imposed between 25 and 31 km/h;
- Do not let go of your handlebars to feed yourself;
- Do not throw anything along the course;
- Do not do anything dangerous on purpose;
- Do not deviate abruptly from the line;
- Do not interfere with other cyclists (sudden stop, swerve, push, etc.);
- Do not try to insert yourself between two cyclists (or inside a peloton) when space does not allow it;
- Respect the instructions of the commissaires or members of the organization;
- It is forbidden to handle a cell phone, MP3, IPOD, etc.;
- It is forbidden to wear headphones;
- Use respectful language and gestures;
- Any behavior deemed inappropriate by the organization and that could compromise the safety of the peloton will not be tolerated;
- No crutches, racks or triathlon bars on your bike;
- The minimum age to participate in the Bike Challenge is 16 years old. A parent or legal guardian must sign a parental consent form.
- Electrically assisted bikes are not allowed.
Penalties
A cyclist caught in violation will have to stop for the rest of the event. The 300km for LIFE Bike Challenge reserves the right, at any time and through its coaches OR team members present, to refuse the participation of a cyclist who does not comply with the rules or who compromises his or her safety or that of others on the course.
Registration Conditions
Registration fees ($250 before December 1, 2022, $300 thereafter) are not refundable
If a cyclist cannot participate, he HAS to contact the Fondation to discuss applicable terms depending on the situation (transfer of payment -to following year or other participant- or refund)
Each participant commits to bringing in $1,000 by September 8, 2023—in the case this objective is not met, the Foundation reserves the right to refuse to allow a cyclist to participate
The activity will take place even in the case of rain
Participants are responsible for ensuring that they are in proper physical condition to take part in the 300 km for LIFE Bike Challenge
All first-time participants must attend one of the two“Riding in a Peloton” training sessions offered by the Foundation—the dates will be made available shortly
Each participant recognizes that taking part in a cycling activity involves real dangers and risks of injury and accidents, and declares that they are aware of the nature and scope of said dangers and risks, and freely and voluntarily accepts them
Each participant accepts that the route and distance of 300 km for LIFE is subject to change at any time prior to the beginning of the event
Waiver
By participating in the event, you agree to participate at your own risk and you hereby release the 300 km Bike for LIFE Challenge, its employees and the Cité de la Santé Foundation from any and all liability for any and all claims made against it, its sponsors, its volunteers and its partners for any personal injury, death or property damage resulting from your participation in the 300 km Bike for LIFE Challenge You authorize any medical personnel to intervene according to their expertise, if necessary. You also consent to the use of your image (photo or video) by the Cité de la Santé Foundation or its partners for promotional purposes (publications in social media, on the Internet or in traditional media - print, television or radio).
