On December 30, 2024, the Government of Canada announced its intention to amend the Income Tax Act to extend the deadline to February 28, 2025.

The deadline to make donations eligible for tax assistance for the 2024 tax year has been extended to mitigate the impact of the four-week Canada Post postal service interruption.

Donors now have until February 28, 2025 to make their donations eligible for tax assistance in the 2024 tax year.
